Nature, culture & gastronomy on Fanø

The ferry from Esbjerg takes 12 minutes to reach Fanø island. During the crossing, you'll encounter beautiful nature, including sandbanks where seals often rest. Fanø offers numerous activities throughout the year, and its flat sandy beaches are among Denmark's finest and most child-friendly.

The 23-square-mile (60 km²) island is perfect for cycling. There's a lovely cycle path from Nordby to Sønderho in the south, and guided bicycle tours are available to visit the island's various attractions.

Various beach activities are popular on Fanø. Besides kite flying, amber hunting and surfing, you can try land sailing (blokarting) on the wide beaches. The island's numerous restaurants and cafés offer culinary experiences featuring local produce. Fanø even has its own brewery and various locally-produced rums and gins.
