THE AREA:
The holiday home is located just 2 km from the center of Sæby. A scenic walk along the beach promenade takes you into town, where you’ll find shops and attractions. Continue along the sandy beach to the marina, where you can enjoy ice cream, fresh fish, and the maritime atmosphere with sailboats, cafés, and shops—especially vibrant in the summer.
North Jutland offers many attractions for the whole family. Sæby Miniby presents the town center as it looked around 1900. Sæbygaard Castle and the Coastal Museum tell the town’s history—Sæby celebrated its 500th anniversary in 2024. In the historic town center you’ll find the monastery church of St. Mariæ, the watermill, the Coastal Museum, and various artisan workshops around Algade. On the outskirts of town is an attractive 18-hole golf course and Sæbygaard Castle, which is also worth a visit.
In Frederikshavn, the Krudttårnet and Bangsbo area offer interesting experiences, as does Denmark’s only palm beach. Further north in Skagen, children will enjoy the Teddy Bear Museum, and everyone should see Grenen, the Grey Lighthouse, and the Skagen Museums.
On North Jutland’s west coast, the Nordsøen Oceanarium – Northern Europe’s largest aquarium – is a great family destination. To the south, Aalborg (Denmark’s third-largest city) offers lively urban experiences.
